The feds might not, but the military does care. There would be a huge uprising amongst the ranks in the military.

yea but if a fraction of the military stays they still have the ability to squash a armed resistance. also don't forget the drones they could use.
a fraction of the airpower is still plenty to handle a group of ten million that is restricted to guns only for the most part. It is even easier if they ignore collateral damage.
