Also JSU played us once or twice while I was there. Of course they had an awesome show, even at the very beginning of the season. I loved the fact that they brought the full band to perform--most SEC schools won't/can't due to the lack of hotel rooms.

Some historical pictures of note:

MSU's old band truck. Thankfully some band alumni stepped up and bought us a bigger truck because this one wasn't ever going off campus (January 2004).

Grilling outside the old band hall (October 2004).

Brothers and sisters from Florida's KKPsi and TBS chapters. They were pretty happy that Zook got Croomed at the game and they were getting a new coach (October 2004).

The new band/choral hall in 2007 (yes, that parking lot is now paved--MSU probably still has some on-campus gravel lots, though).

The office.

The tower. Frankly I am astounded to see other universities with covered towers. There would've been rioting during band camp if the directors had had shade and the band didn't. This one is made by the same company that made Auburn's. And it is disgustingly brown instead of maroon because it was built while Dr. Fogelsong was president of the university and he apparently loved brown.

Great pics! Thanks so much for sharing those. I'll make a point to go by that way next time LSU is in town.

that truck

The razorback band marches in a sectioned off part of a big parking lot on campus. It is good in that it doesn't get muddy like a field would but it's pretty hot during Early week in the summer and thru Sept. Our directors just use a scissor lift to see the formations.

Here's a pic of the old ROTC band from the early 1900's i believe:

Our band dates back to 1876 and is the oldest student organization

Here is a slightly lower key version of our fight song melody:
