There was a time when she tried to be a little too involved in our relationship.
Hell naw on that count
I really appreciate that my MIL has never tried to meddle with/alter my relationship w/ belle. Honestly that goes against her nature, but she respects us enough to give us our own sphere.

The reason it wasnt a bigger deal was because she didnt do that catty behind my back high school bullshite lots of women do, she actually came to me and we talked it out. She didnt try and start shite with her daughter about me behind the scenes.
The woman has survived a divorce, breast cancer, her second husband being murdered in the line of duty and her son coming dangerously close to the same fate. She is just so cautious with her kids because of it all and worries about them too much, which I understand more now but when I was 21 or so it just pissed me off

My mother-in-law's meddling is more telling the wife what we're doing wrong. She's pretty opinionated and not afraid to share it. If my wife pushes back, she immediately shuts up and apologizes.
Funny story about mother-in-law. She's devout Southern Baptist. In the church anytime the doors are open. Doesn't really drink except the occasional glass of wine with dinner. When my first child was born she came to stay with us for a few days. She's old school and treats the man of the house like a king. Having supper ready every night when I requested(she pressed me for time), jumping up and handing me the remote anytime I walked into the living room, getting me a beer or something to drink as as soon as my glass or bottle was empty, etc. In short, it was pretty damn awesome. The last night she was there I had had a few beers and was talking with her while the wife was feeding the kid in the nursery. I told her I hated to see her go and I she spoiled me so much I wondered how she would have reacted if I had asked for a blow job. She died laughing and tells that story at just about every family gathering if she's had a glass of wine.
