Perfect town for it. Hope the 3 tier distribution system doesn't scare off perspective brewers.

Hopefully that will change soon, I never thought I'd see the day GA allowed Sunday Sales.
On that note, before everyone gets excited, and as you know CD, having 100 micro brews in Athens won't be like having 100 microbrews in 47 other states. See, the microbrews won't be able to sell to you. They can only sell to distributors. Sure, you can buy it at Kroger, or even at the bar next door, but you won't be able to walk up to the bar at the microbrew and buy it.
Moon River in Savannah? Copper Creek in Athens? You can buy beer in their brewery/restaurant, right? Yes, because they don't sell to a distributor. In GA, and 2 other states, a brew can sell to the public OR sell to a distributor, but not both.
That means most all brewers are going to choose the option of selling to distributors, much bigger market.

This. If you've never been to Highland Brewing or anywhere else in Asheville, it's a pretty awesome atmosphere when you can sit around the tasting room, listen to live music, and buy as much fresh craft beer as you like... without having to be around a bunch of d-bags at a bar.
