Prof, thanks for the heads up and the background about the UT connection. Actually good when ownership belongs to someone in the SEC family. Host Communications (KY roots) and CLC (AL roots) were both home grown before they were bought by east coast private equity and got rolled into IMG College. Host had a big office and lots of employees that have all been moved to NYC or ACC country.

I thought Dish had 20 million subscribers but your link said they had only 14 million subscribers (not a big number compared to 300 - 350 million americans) and it would only be for folks with 120 channel + service (not sure what that level costs per month) so while the net may be wide, it is not a big net. This is not great in the sense that some bigger outfit can buy this company up and it will no longer have SEC ties.

Just out of curiosity, what is your bill per month for 120 channels (not what they advertise, but what you actually pay after hidden charges, fees, and taxes)

On a side note I really would love if they would go to a la carte and you can pay for just what you want. First thing I would drop is Disney and all those shopping channels.

I don't know because what I have is the Joey w/Hopper plus Top 200 and blockbuster at home. It's about 100 bucks for all that. I'd have a lot cheaper package but I have to have BBC America.

What you need to pay attention to with Dish though is the cost of the DVR service which isn't factored into the package price. It's great service but it runs higher than it should because their DVR is better than others - the have a proprietary fast forward live thingy ding. So if you sign up with Dish add the cost of package + ask what DVR service costs to get your total. TN is also a bitch and charges sales tax.

I complained when my year of discounts ended and now I have another 12mos with a 10 dollar discount. So they're receptive to complaints.
