Say what? We gave up 350 yards rushing in the SECCG!The 2012 defense was the worst rushing defesne in UGA FB HISTORY and we had 7 guys that made NFL rosters...perhaps one of the worst DC
efforts in UGA history. CTG had nothing to do with UGA's success in 2012.

Actually, 2012 was one of our better defensive seasons. We were ranked 18th in scoring defense (6th in the SEC), 8th in pass defense (2nd in the SEC just behind Alabama) and yea our run defense was not good at #80 (9th in the SEC). Compare that to 2013 (79th in scoring defense) and 2011 (23rd in scoring defense). Still, I agree in principle that Grantham was not the answer for DC at UGA. And yes, giving up 350 rushing yards in the the SECG vs Bama was the killer. If the defense had played better we would not have been in that desperate situation at the end of that game.

It really is THE reason we lost. If we aren't getting gashed in the run game like that, then maybe Damian Swann doesn't bite so hard on that run fake and is in position to either knock down or intercept that pass to Cooper, or more likely cause AJ to rethink throwing it at all.

I'm with you, Dave.

Grantham's 2012 defense ranked better nationally than Bobo's record breaking 2012 offense (PPG).

There were issues. But it was not as bad as many want to make it out to be.

The biggest issues with the defense in my opinion were recruiting DBs. We just flat out failed to recruit enough numbers. We would have been tight even without attrition.
The other issue was rotating in players.
Grantham was more preoccupied with ppg than getting reps in for next season's leaders.

All of that came to a boil in 2013.
Hopefully, Pruitt doesn't make the same mistakes.
