You missed this point. You realize Athens is basically the size of the county and the University covers almost the entire county. You basically have three police departments covering the smallest county in Georgia.

Size is irrelevant. It's about ratios:

LEOs per 1000 residents of selected SEC towns

UGA - Athens/CC: 1.97
Auburn - Lee: 1.98
UT - Knox: 2.14
UF - Alachua: 2.32
LSU - E.BR Parish: 2.79
USC - Richland: 2.92
UA - Tuscaloosa: 3.12

So your point on size is irrelevant. Those LEOs in Athens, whoever they answer to, are overworked compared to other SEC towns. If anything your size argument makes UGA look worse.
