rG has never bothered me that much. It's way too obvious when he's bored and brings out his tackle box. I agree with you that some of his bait has gotten old. If you sling it right back at him without getting all pissy he'll go chasing somebody else.

He doesn't really bother me either. Like I said, he can be pretty funny & isn't serious or ugly about it.

I think the thing is intent. If the flamers/trollers are really just goofing around in a good humored way, hell, I'll joke with them. It's fun, occasionally, & passes the time when I'm working (procrastinating).

But if someone is really being a prick & is flaming out of malice, I've got a problem with it. Usually, you can tell the difference, but sometimes it's a little harder to discern the real intentions of the "flamer."

People don't like that we refuse to conform to their shitty opinions of us or that we won't crawl into a hole when things aren't going so great for us. We stay generally optimistic & proud of the university & our athletics, no matter what, and remain, overall, pretty consistently unified against others' bullshite, which really pisses people off.

Also, other shitty teams' fans like to make themselves attempt to feel less shitty by bashing us.

I think they really know that we're never nearly as bad as what they would like to think, and many times, actually better than they are.

Hell would freeze over before other fans admitted this, but I honestly believe many of them are jealous of the solidarity & loyalty Arkansas fans show in support of the Razorbacks, even in awful times, (although some Hog fans might dislike each other - H'ville).
LSU fan friends of mine have asked me about this a lot, particularly the past couple of football seasons. Many times, the least little "bad" thing that happens to LSU, or what fans perceive to be bad, half of them are calling for the coach's head; or crying & bitching about what "shitty" bowl they're going to; or how bad the team sucks with a 9-3 record, blah, blah, blah., They ask why Arkansas fans don't seem to do so much of that "fair weathered fan" bullshite. They admire (& yes, are a bit jealous) of the fact that we don't, and that we are loyal to the Razorbacks, even with everything we've been through recently. I tell them that we can damn sure be disappointed & frustrated, but it sure as hell doesn't mean we turn our backs on the team. We don't call those people true fans.

I also believe many people don't get/aren't aware of the long, strong athletic tradition the UofA has. We're proud because we have reason to be. It's understandable that younger posters of other fanbases wouldn't know this about UofA, but it's a shame a lot of them don't understand the importance of their own team's & school's history & traditions. That obviously infuriates true LSU fans around my age who just can't believe the amount of important LSU history regarding sports, players, coaches, or the university itself that many younger "fans" have no clue about. Most of the time, that isn't the case with younger Arkansas fans. Most of us were taught, and continue to teach our children, from a rather young age about the important historical people & events of the UofA and the Razorbacks.

This is all just my opinion, of course. It isn't scientific or anything.

Does anyone wonder why particular posters are so Hogsessed? It is one thing to respond to another but what exactly is in the head of a poster who repeatedly starts threads about another team? Is it kind of like a spurned lover deal where they really want to be a part of the other person's life but at times pretend like they don't? Is it jealousy? Wanting attention? Self-validation? Is it like a domestic violence type situation where they are infatuated with the other person such that they want to get into their life as much as they can to inflict as much abuse on them as possible? Not sure I understand the psyche here but some seem to thrive on it.

I think it is a fair question regardless of the fanbase. I'm not sure what pleasure people derive from it, if any. And I've never really understood how one's life is advanced being obsessed with another team.
