Do you guys thinks he will be able to help the rotation?

In an ideal world he would be a solid middle of the rotation guy and not a number two, but shite happens. He is a talented guy no doubt, but depending on the park he is pitching in he can be a bit volatile, especially in the more hitter friendly parks.

Santana is a fly ball pitcher and his volatility comes from the fact that he gives up a decent amount of hard contact with his fastball, which he throws often. As stated before he is a flyball pitcher who gives up hard contact which in turn can lead to him giving up a decent amount of extra base hits.

In addition to the four seem fastball, Santana also throws a slider, changeup, and a two seamer. As far as durability, the dude just eats up innings, pitching over 200+ three out of the past four seasons which is important because of the amount of uncertainty at the back end of the rotation.

Ultimately, I think Santana will do fine for us because of the fact that Turner Field is one of the more friendly confines for pitchers and our starting outfield is one of the best defensively.

Amazing that old Fulton Co Stadium and Turner Field are located maybe 500 ft from each other and have almost identical dimensions
(right center is a little deeper @ Turner)
And 1 place had HR's flying out of it while
the other is known to be more of a pitcher's
park.
