NRA classes teach it better than Academies. You practice and qualify, but the safety aspect, is lacking a great deal in many instances.

I would think you're right about that. My wife's ex is a cop and leaves guns laying around his house apparantly. With young children, whether you think you know what you're doing or not, there's not excuse for proper safety.
