Why is he just announcing it? I thought it has been known for a while now

I am really happy about this move. Not only is JJ Green's film at CB impressive, and Pruitt wants him there; but it opens up the RB position a bit.

We need the athletes there.
Plenty of top knotch running backs on the team, but little talent at corner.

We need all the help we can get

He's got the ball skills if he can learn the position at the D1 level. Hope he can.

Actually glad to here this. As already stated we need more talent at skill positions on defense. Green is actually too small for a RB but about the right size for a DB. Hope it works out for him.

I like it. This sounds like CJP's work. We need some speed back there and guys that are not afraid to hit or get hit.
Also it seems it will ease possible tensions from lack of playing time among the RBs.

JJ wanted to go to FSU...Pruitt has likely seen his tape before....he came to UGA because Brice recommended him to CMB....then they offered after coming down to Camden to see Brice play his senior season...
JJ was a lock down corner in HSand was exciting to watch on Friday nights...he played almost every snap of every game...and will give 110% at whatever position he is playing...
personally I liked seeing him at RB cause he had vision that was finessed by playing in the Wing T for so many years...you have to see holes for it to work...but....
i will be excited to see him play defense as well...just worry about this cause CMr and company have done this to guys in the past...he shouldn't be treated as a "jack of all trades, master of none"...that just isn't fair....if he moves over, he needs to stay on D until he graduates...let the boy perfect his craft and prepare for the NFL...
no matter what, he is a DGD and will always be a Wildcat!
just my .02
