So, in your opinion, do you believe Saban's dislike of the HUNH is related to player safety or to his personal football philosophy about "blocking and tackling" and "not being a continuous sport like soccer" and about a "sense of fairness" and the "real advantage" it creates for the offense?

I don't know the heirarchy of reasons for his dislike of the HUNH. He has always said both reasons, contrary to your assertions. So I guess both.

He is obviously ultra competitive and two of his strengths are using specialty packages on defense and calling pre-snap audibles on defense. I'm not denying that he has competitive motives here. Just like the HUNH loved the 2008 play clock rule change because it was to their advantage. I just find it hilarious that people (not really you by the way) seem to get so worked up over him giving his opinion, which has been very consistent for at least a couple of years now.

He isn't voting on any rule change.

I don't mind him giving his opinion, but the terrible analogies and lack of evidence supporting his opinions are remarkable.

Sure, but he is attempting to influence the change through statements like comparing a football play with smoking a cigarette, so it is only natural for there to be a backlash.
