I am going to have a very enjoyable conversation with a certain judge friend of mine soon.

In between the Golf, Meetings, and Dinner, this will accidently come up.

This guy needs to be removed for simply being a LSu fan, already shows poor judgment.

OUCH. This dude may be in trouble. But hey, this board breeds this type of discussion. He was going with the flow. Why should we hold him to a higher standard when nothing he's done or said has impacted his courtroom proceedings to our knowledge.

I don't know law so I don't know what kind of expectation of privacy a person has in this case, or what kinds of rules there are for judges that protect privacy. From my perspective as a medical professional, I would be up shite creek without a paddle if I posted about a celebrity's private medical history or treatments and my identity was uncovered. That's why I don't do shite like that.

(It doesn't have to be a celebrity, it could be any random person, but posting a celebrity's info is far more likely to get attention and be reported)

It may not work like that in law, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's analogous.

I wouldn't expect the First Amendment to protect me from being punished for HIPAA violations.

He should be in trouble, and yeah, I pretty much hold my elected officials, particularly judges, to high standards. I also don't elect morons with terrible judgment and finances if I can help it. I'd rather not put a judge in office that's in a position to be bribed easily. This a-hole doesn't have one redeeming quality. Thanks to the Arky blog & TD for making it possible for everyone to see that.

The older I get the more I find myself wondering "how the hell did [insert name] get to be [insert position of power] when he's such a tactless imbecile?"

Guy should resign out of embarrassment alone.

But why? Aren't we on here doing the same stupid stuff? He's gonna lose his job over this probably but it's kinda sad that he can't just speak his mind without fear of that.

Any of us could lose our jobs if we were outed after racist, sexist, anti gay, etc comments. A person should have enough sense not to post stuff on a public forum that could get them in trouble. It's the nature of PC America and, though you don't have to agree with it, you have to be smart enough to play along.

If he believes one zillionth of what he posted, he should not be a judge of any kind. "We" aren't judges who are supposed to be impartial, but he is. He's also not supposed to run to a message board and give details of private proceedings.

And as I said, finances play a big factor in who I vote for, - not how much they're worth, but how financially sound & what kind of financial judgment they use in their personal lives. If their house has been in foreclosure, defaulted on loans, etc., I have a problem with that, especially concerning judges, for obvious reasons.

I think many people still don't get that in certain positions, should you decide to take them, there are just things one cannot do or say publicly. That's the way it's always been & will always be. Just life. People can always choose not to take or run for those positions. If they feel the need to "vent" I'm sure they've got family members or therapists or trusted friends to talk to. What this guy did is beyond stupid, but I'm glad he did it, because I'm sure he'll be allowed to keep his position & probably still run for appeals court judge, but hopefully, now, he won't get it.

a judge of higher standing should never

1. Speak sexually explicitly like he does.
2. Make horrible comments about divorce, or give details of any of his cases.
3. Be a Racist.
4. Care more about money than judicial rights or justice. The nursing home case he presided over was horrible.
5. he is asinine and stupid for displaying publicly those beliefs, and if he actually has those beliefs, he is not fit for the judicial system.

When did we stop expecting more of those in certain positions.

I remember when a teacher would get fired for infidelity, drunkenness, and being a complete and utter idiot.

These days they have meetings at bars, take home each others spouses, and act like complete uneducated trailer park trash. (not all, but some, in fact more than the past)

Sad shape of affairs. I hope he loses, and loses badly!
