Personality trumps everything, including money. The side with more money generally wins because that's who the smart money is paying off for political favors later.

I occasionally debate and sometimes troll a younger guy I know. He voted Obama both times and he gets a ton of his talking points from Bill Maher and Jon Stewart. 2 weeks ago, he was so pissed, he walked off calling me a bigot and a freak because of the discussion we had. 
He calmed down after a few minutes of walking it off. I'm gonna give him about a month off before bringing up another hot topic. (That topic had to do with Sams' coming out).
