Yeah this is a much different start than y'all had last year. Given the talent disparity between State and their OOC opponents I don't know what's slowing everything up.

Well, to be fair -- our nonconference opponents are 17-5 overall outside of their games against us. While the names may not jump off the page, they may mostly end up being respectable losses. The 2 against Holy Cross are unexplainable though.

That said, it should have been somewhat expected that we would start slower than last year -- since we're starting several new players at key positions and tinkering with the lineup a ton. We started 3 guys tonight that I don't expect to see much in conference play. I thought it was a huge mistake to redshirt both underclass catchers last year, leaving us with no experience at the position, and that's proving itself to be true early. Really just dealing with growing pains right now.

That's understandable. While their record of 17-5 is good, it isn't exactly Vanderbilt's OOC. I would've thought the talent disparity could've carried y'all but that's why baseball's funny and different.

The tournament in Arizona will be a good test of where State is headed this season. I wish we had something of the sort coming up.
