yea, the guy in the creepy pasta story said he taught himself to lucid dream by creating a "symbol" or image that was unique to himself. basically he drew a symbol only he knew and would look at it and think about it for 20 minutes or so every night. eventually, he would see that symbol in his dream and eventually, when he would see that symbol, it would trigger and he would know he was dreaming
