Even though I'm living in FL, I unfortunately had the honor of hearing Finebaum's opening rant on UA player entitlement. While he sounded like a douche as usual, he made a good point.

At what point do we stop blaming the young players and look instead to the guy making $7 mil, and who recruited/coached those players?

Granted he can't watch every one of them all the time, and thugs gonna thug, but it isn't really fair to blame a handful of freshmen who barely played, if they played at all. I think the senior leadership, outside of Mosley and Norwood, was lacking.

Saban's inability to comprehend the HUNH compounded things a bit at the end of the season too. And now we have to bring in a transfer QB because all of the 4/5* QBs we have/have had on the roster can't cut it?

While I'm sure many young (and older) guys felt entitled, I don't think we can lay all, or even most, of the blame on them.

Saban is the greatest coach in the game today and one of the best ever. You simply can't win them all.

Did you think Saban couldn't handle the pro-style offense in '10 after losing to USCe and LSU?

I am tired of some people blaming the losses to Auburn and Oklahoma entirely on the defense. Sure, they didn't play their greatest, but the offense didn't either. Against Auburn in the 4th quarter, Bama couldn't convert in the red zone to put Auburn away to save their life and the defense gave them ample opportunities. Against Oklahoma the offense turned the ball over 4 times, 2 of which the Oklahoma defense immediately reversed the field position, and all 4 turnovers directly resulted in touchdowns. Can't expect the defense to hold all 12-14 opponents to 7 points. Sometimes the offense needs to win a game or two.

No mention of AJ? Or do you not like the tough love type leaders?

I see where the OP is coming from. When CNS stated a few weeks ago that we had several players on the team last year that didn't buy in, I questioned if maybe the staff needs to examine how they evaluate character of prospects. I know on a roster of 85 you're going to have at least a few bad apples, but it sounded to me like CNS was saying that we had an unusually high number. Maybe that can be prevented from happening in the future through better character vetting.

We had a down year. Every team has one. Only our down year is still 11-2.

What went wrong?
-We had an OLB that played assignment football about as well as I could in the AU game.
-Cooper dropped a sure TD.
-Foster is a great person, but a lousy kicker. #bamafansforCade
-Our corners were sorry as frick.
-Our oline was below standard.
-Our OC went full retard in both the AU and OU games.
-Our coach made the wrong decision on the field goal. Should have done a hail mary. Hindsight is 20/20.

Despite the many weaknesses of this team we were still one play away from playing in the SECCG and then the BCSNCG.

This year our team had far too many weaknesses. It was crystal clear from my seat in the GA Dome at the beginning of this year that this was not the same team as 2012. Whatever strength our defense showed in that game was quickly erased in the ATM game.

Thankfully 2013 is over. 2014 may be a rebuilding year, but there should be a lot of energy this year. And 2015?

why the continued melt? we lost 2 games, in which we outgained the opposing team by 100 yards each time but had offensive or ST miscues, 5 turnovers against OU and missed field goals against and coverage against auburn. the defense played well enough in both of those games to win comfortably. stuff happens in football, and there is a reason no one has ever 3-peated, because its pretty much impossible to get all the balls bouncing your way 3 years in a row (and yes, everyone who plays for or wins a championship had luck to get there)
