I would also want to read the books of the people involved, Saban, Sexton, UA Staffers, everyone's. I heard it is an interesting story.

Just what I was told by my source, it was interesting. Even going back to what was going on behind the scenes leading up to Shula's firing. I left a lot out in my prior post, and don't really have the time to type it all out right now. Short story, our football program was highly dysfunctional, which is why Mal wanted a control freak and proven winner like Saban.

I will say I was playing poker the night of the 2006 SEC Championship Game with a couple of my Auburn friends. They asked who I thought we would get, and I had been told the day prior by my source that Saban was Mal's #1 target, so I told them Saban. I wish I had a video of their laughing reaction. I do throw it in their face any chance I get.

I always had a crazy idea about why Saban chose alabama:
Part of me wants to believe the idea that Saban saw a bit of his late father in the way Mal carried himself. It is the vibe I've gotten from the two when in public together.

I could be going full gump but it at least it makes some sort of sense.
