I quit cold turkey almost 8 years ago. Woke up one morning hung over, out of cigs and too drunk to drive and get more. Decided then that I didn't want to smoke anymore. Haven't touched one since.
The cravings subside but don't fully go away. There are still times where I'll smell smoke or just see someone smoking and want one so bad. It's just having the want to not do it anymore.
