Arkansas didn't run the HUNH under Petrino. Also, Petrino didn't run the Meerkat offense with Mallet because Mallet could read defenses and audible the Hogs into the right play most of the time.

However, when Wilson was under center he couldn't read defenses nearly as well as Mallet so Petrino utilized the Meerkat offense which I despise. QBs should be able to audible without looking to the sidelines and teams using that technique either has a QB incapable of making the right audible or they don’t trust the QB to make the right call. Either way it’s a lazy way out for the coaches.
Sounds like most of the JV & high school offenses around here. A coach can't trust a high school kid to be able to read a defense correctly and make the right play. They have to be told from the sidelines what to do on every single time. Hell, my son plays safety and his position coach is screaming out plays to the defense so those little bastards know what the offense is about to throw at 'em.
