It's actually a pretty good comparison if you will think about it objectively.

This is what I am getting at in the analogy. I'm glad you saw it even though you didn't realize it. The pitcher/defense controls the tempo in baseball, but the batter/offense is allowed to get set before the action starts. I think it should be the same in football.
