I am in Austin every two weeks.
It's a lot of fun to visit but most of it gets old quick.
Snobbiest town I know of and I'm including Dallas and NYC. Terrible traffic for a town its size. High cost of living. Yuppies and pan handlers.
On the flip side, amazing local talent, great bar scene, tons of awesome parks, best music scene in the country, and good food.
If you're a single dude, move there, slay tail, get married, and leave.

This is consistent with everything I've heard about it.
But how would that compare to Nashville? Do they have the same issues with snobs and cost and yuppies and pan handlers and whatnot?

Lots of towns have that.

Lived in Austin for two years, the damn pan handlers are out of control. Shut one of the homeless cross dressers ran for mayor and got like 5% of the damn vote.

this is just not true
to the OP: Austin is better to visit, Nashville better to live.
