One thing we tend to forget is that Mason has been in the system for, what, four years now? He knows it better than Murray did when he first started, did he not? And, it isn't like HM hasn't played any during those times or spent quality time with the first teamers...
Go back and watch Mason. Average at best and would make a better backup than starter. FB doesn't have it - so BR better be ready to go.

Had any of the receivers caught a ball in the bowl game you'd be singing a different tune. Mason was fine in the bowl game, the receivers took a dump on the field.
