Well this thread sure has drifted off course lol. If you doubt that a reasonable, historical argument can be made about the existence of God and the resurrection of Christ, do yourself a favor and go look up one of William Lane Craig's debates. Even atheists admire his prowess as a skilled orator, maybe the best of our generation. There is every bit as much evidence for the believer's case as the case for any other worldview.

There also seems to be a lot of confusion about OT law based on the don't eat bacon comments. Do yourself a favor and research the three types of OT law. Two types, civil and ceremonial are no longer in play because we are no longer a theocracy and Scripture clearly states Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice, all the ceremonial and cleansing laws were only pointing us to him. That leaves moral law as the only OT law type still binding to believers today. Any amateur theologian knows and understand this very simple principle, but so many try to use it to railroad biblical discussions simply out of ignorance.

Lastly, to get back to the point...there is no known genetic component to homosexuality. None, zilch, nada. All arguments for that position in this thread have been nothing more than personal opinion with no support evidence or conjecture with no scientific evidence. And no, I don't hate gay people. I just find it disturbing how many people in this country have become mindless sheep that just consume whatever garbage mainstream media feeds us. My personal opinion, as a theist that became a Christian about a decade ago is that we are all born broken. We all have a tendency to drift the wrong way, to wander toward destructive behaviors. That looks different for everyone, I certainly have my demons to wrestle with. That said, I wrestle with them, I don't embrace them and celebrate them. That is just my take based on my worldview and understanding of the actual evidence. And btw, we can disagree civilly and be friends...not sure when Americans decided that having a different worldview means treating each other like scum, name calling, etc. The great intellectuals and scholars throughout history always had great respect for each other and some were even good friends. We have lost that ability it seems which doesn't speak highly of our current level of intellectual enlightenment IMO.

:kige:

The level of public discourse and what is considered acceptable debate has taken a distinct downward turn in recent years.
