I'm sorry to start a new thread, but I thought it was deserving given what I know.
I live roughly 20 minutes outside of Auburn and do some volunteering in and around Auburn High. I had an opportunity to speak with a couple of their coaches (one being a defensive assistant). They tell me that Evans really does like Auburn, but it's an Elam type situation where he doesn't want to leave due to the comfortability that comes with being close to home.
That said, they went as far as saying it's 55/45 BAMA as of Sunday night. It's not that Evans wants to leave, but he thinks that he could build his draft stock more by coming in at Alabama and being surrounded with other top flight talent. He likes the direction Auburn is headed, but he doesn't trust that they can help him reach his ceiling.
TIFWIW. They said it could change, but they seem confident that it's not over and that Alabama actually leads. I don't claim to be an insider, but I saw this as my unique opportunity to pass along what I'm hearing down here with 24 hours to go.

You can't say things like:
and
and think you are safe from the pending ridicule by AU fans just because you ended things with

auburn's about to have one, possibly two players taken in the 1st round of the 2014 NFL draft... and another taken in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. and that's with a staff having 10 months to coach these guys.
if he doesn't think auburn can get him drafted, he's dead wrong... but it's his decision... we'll see soon enough.

This kid is just jacking Bama around. No way he doesn't pick Auburn. There would be too much pressure from his family, and he wants his family and friends to be able to come to all of his games. If it had been during recruiting last year, he might have chosen Bama, but not now.

I've always thought it was great that high school coaches would give out this kind of information to total strangers a week before signing day.
You are one lucky dude. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, he should go to Alabama where they did a brilliant job of developing star JACK linebacker Adrian Hubbard. Entered the year as a 1st round pick on almost every list, he'll be lucky to be drafted in the 3rd round now. Came out to the SR Bowl looking like shite physically. Looked hilariously average all week in practice.
Funny, Auburn's 4-3 Defensive End is going to be drafted higher as a "JACK" linebacker than Adrian Hubbard.
