To the defensive Vols here, let's put the flaming aside for a moment. Do you really disagree that production on the biggest stage is a legitimate criticism of Peyton?

You know he's won a super bowl , right?

Saying Peyton isn't good because no rings (on current team), is the same thing as saying jff isn't good because no titles. Both teams had a horrible defense when it mattered. I know manning lost the game because of his two nits and only 8 points, but that doesn't mean he is a horrible qb. In the game, it felt like he had to start forcing throws or making big plays (like jff) due to the anti-tackle cologne the defense was wearing. He was also pressured every play and the defense knew it was a pass play due to a lack of running. I guess what I'm getting at here is that winning a Super Bowl or sec title isn't a one man job, it's a team effort. Teams who have won a Super Bowl/title do well in 3 of the 4: running, passing, defense, and/or special teams. If Peyton had played well, he still wouldn't have done well because his team was lacking in the running, special teams, and defense categories. Jff couldn't win a title because his team lacked in two of these almost every game (defense, special teams).

I'm not sure if you are responding to me or someone else but I'll play. Yes we all know he stepped it up, played great, and won a Super Bowl. Yes, we actually do all realize he will go down as one of the greatest(despite the flames here). Despite all that, we know he has a pretty substantial history of not performing well when it matters the most. What I'm curious about, will any UT fan admit this phenomenon or do they all just refuse to admit there is any substance to it?

Well, Peyton sucks.
Yeah, for a QB to go 1-2 in NFL Super bowls is absolutely horrible.

Found an interesting link on Wiki, as flawed as that site can be. See below. According to this, of the 29 NFL QB's who have started at least 10 playoff games, only two are worse than Peyton's 0.478 win percentage: Dan Marino (interesting enough) and Warren Moon.

That confirms it...Peyton, Marino and Moon all suck.

Amazing how the media and nearly everyone was saying he is the best QB of all-time (or could be with the win), putting him above Montana.
Now he's being treated like he's no better than Trent Dilfer.
I just love the sports world.

This would have been a lot easier if you bad just said "no, despite the substantial evidence, UT fans will not admit that Peyton has a tendency to blow big games."

No he didn't play good in the playoffs that year the colts won the superbowl.
3tds 7ints 70qbr. In the playoffs that year
It's a good thing they were playing the rex grossman led terrible bears or Peyton's career would've been a perfect replica of Dan Marino with no superbowl wins.

Well Marino was in 1 SB and didn't win.
If Peyton was 0-3, he'd join only 3 other QBs who had multiple SB starts and didn't win (Morton 0-2, Tarkenton 0-3 and Jim Kelly 0-4).
Peyton is tied with Kurt Warner, 1-2. If he wins next year he is 2-3, ties John Elway.
It's funny but I don't really recall Kelly being the reason the Bills didn't win a SB. Maybe he was, but after a while you just think it was the Bills. It's probably how people would view Peyton in years to come, like he willed mediocre teams to the SB but then couldn't overcome their deficiencies. It's what time does.

I don't know if Payton Manning could have done anything against that defense.
