This very same scenario played out for Alabama in 1977...#5 Notre Dame (who'd beaten #1 Texas) jumped over #3 Bama after #1 & #2 had both lost bowl games...despite ND losing to an unranked Ole Miss team that year (OM finished 5-6) that Bama beat by 3 TDs. I know us older Bama fans weren't happy 'bout that one..
