I can see the Women's Basketball team being legit final four contenders for years.

That's great news, good for the girls! Coach Dawn's going to turn this program into a powerhouse, I have no doubt.

Hyman had her in the stands with him tonight trying to work-out a deal for her to come to A&M once their guy is forced-out. Claims he'll pay her big bucks.
Eta: Tanner is the one that got her the big money here, not Hyman.

Why is a&m trying to force out their ladies coach? aren't they in the Top 20 too and didn't the do pretty good last year?

Heard from someone that knows her AAU coach that she is coming to Carolina

When does she announce, is there a firm date?

Yeah that seems strange....I can't see them forcing him out right now. He could be thinking of retiring I guess, but he's been at Tx A&M since 2003, and led them to the NC just 3 years ago in 2011. The Aggies have averaged 26.5 wins over the past 8 seasons and besides the NC made it to an Elite Eight and two Sweet Sixteens in the NCAAT during that span. Blair took over for his predecessor that won 53 games over 5 years as the HC, and the program was a mediocre one that played in only 2 NCAA tournaments prior to his 2003 hiring..
Unless he's screwing all the girls on his team, I can't see Hyman trying to take any measures to force him out of his job. He's basically made the Aggie program for women's basketball....

The time-frame I keep hearing is sometime in April...

I was being facitious towards Hyman since his "Hyman giveth and Hyman taketh away," comments.
I don't think Dawn would leave here for anything right now. She's going to win a couple of national championships right here where she is and we all love her.

Sounded like she wanted to get past her season this year in some interview. Anybody else get this same message?

Yeah, but I like how it went today. There were hundreds of us chanting her name and she recognized that and acknowledged it ... plus the game was good, the crowd was into it, it was a good atmosphere.
I sure hope we can sign her.

She needs to stay in the SEC. Vols set the standard but without Pat the conference is not getting the lions share of the press anymore. To many pretenders backed by ESPN has lead to a drain. Need to reverse this before ESPN reality becomes actual reality in the eyes of recruits.

Agreed. She could get more $$$ from A&M but she's already got the foundation built to contend for NC's. Maybe she leaves to build a new program later on, but right now she's close to realizing the potential of ours and I think that's too attractive to abandon.

She turned-down more money from her alma mater, in order to stay with us.
Of course, one of the first things Ray did was correct the pay problem and get her the major raise when he took over.
If she wins a National Championship we are capable of making her the highest paid women's coach in America.
The more success she has here, the deeper her roots will grow and the tougher it will be for someone to come in and rip her away.
She's a special woman. She's seemingly always made very sound decisions - uncanningly so. She's here for a reason. She sees what we see. She's spooning with the sleeping giant right now, like the rest of us, and she knows it. She knows she can do it all right here and never have to go anywhere else ever again.

UVA may offer more money but they are not top tier ACC and sports just do not drive the needle hard enough to may that happen. The bigger question is if another ACC can and will make a run.
Louisville certainly has the resources and facilities which means in the future they can generate the revenue. Folks might not be surprised to see Tennessee or Connecticut as best attendance schools but the Cards have quietly moved up to challenge them. The uptick is they already have a coach who is winning so no threat now. Duke, UNC, and Notre Dame should have the resources in the ACC.
Baylor in the B12 and Stanford in the PAC have coaches who will probably retire there. After that, who has the attendance to make a run? B1G has maybe Purdue and possibly Michigan State.
The big issue is the SEC. Holly is doing well but still on the hot seat. Kentucky put close to 24,000 in Rupp for a game this year and Memorial has witnessed a few sold out games. Both of these could make a run and have the cash to do it. Gary Blair is getting older and maybe a few other SEC schools may step up their game. If she does get raided my guess is it will be another SEC school or an ACC one.
Schools that can draw around 10,000 a game. Last year Cocks were #26 and pulling just under 4K per game. To be a destination job 8K is a safer spot. The question is if the Cocks can average 8K per game?

Anything like that would be breaking new ground. I mean we had a few fantastic years with incredible attendance numbers at SCAR back in the late 70s, but those days are long gone.
Whatever happens now, happens because Staley made it happen, because she broke new ground and established something of her own. If anyone can raise the attendance figures at SCAR for WBK, that woman can - she is something special.

Not worried about Dawn, the question is if the fans will turn the corner. The bigger question if if they can get numbers when it comes to donors? Lowers for the Vols run I think 250 - 350 per seat but the kicker is the 1,000 donation every year per seat for the right to buy them. It really is becoming a money grab, and some schools are already ahead.
The question is as the prices rise, will the fans keep paying?
