I just got home. I have seen some awful accidents, cars sliding into each other, sliding into poles, cars upside down, anything you can think of. It took me 9 hours to go 20 miles home.

But one thing I learned is that if you have a 4x4 with limited slip you and the mother fricking KING of the road in this shite. I went through a frozen muddy road with a huge incline that was "closed" with cars piled up all along the side and powered through it like a champ.

Thousands are still stranded here in ATL. I seent it. Wrecks and all...

Over 1,000 wrecks in the metro as of right now... some stuck in traffic for 12+ hours.

For real through I had zero trouble driving today. I just had to drive like there was an egg between my foot and the gas pedal but my F-150 with a 5.4L, in 4 wheel high, with a limited slip rear was given no trouble by ice.

Here in Dothan, AL - I didn't even attempt it today. Went home around 12:30, grabbed some Bojangles, and went into my nap mode. I'll likely be up all night now.

I doubt my Hyundai Sonata could've handled it.

It does concern me how many people I saw walking tonight. I really hope those people were able to find shelter.

It couldn't. Do you know how many of those and Honda Accords, Toyota Corollas, and basically any other mid sized SUV's I've seen on the side of the road today?

Yeah at 11pm I walked home drunk from my buddies 1 mile away and still saw people walking around although most of the ones I saw were just having fun like me

Thats all I did today really. Got beer around 3 and was walking around Bluff Park with an open container. My truck is 2wd and by that point I could no longer help anybody because I couldn't get around all the other people who were stuck.

If you know how to drive in the snow it would have done fine. FWD is 90% as effective in snow as 4wd. As I said in the other thread I have lived in Ohio 3 times and north dakota. Best car in the snow I have owned was a 2006 Honda Accord. Couldnt get that thing loose. Clung to the road like a drowning cat. I had no problems today in my Fwd Escape. Course I also have snow rated a/ts. That's besides the point. Fwd in snow is fine, if you have experience. Experience doesn't really help with rear wheel drive. Every turn could be your last.

Praise god LA doesn't get snow. I shudder at what it would be like trying to drive around there in those conditions

Learned that almost the hard way. I was getting around just fine in my fwd 2wd truck because it's big and heavy. Made a slow right turn from a dead stop at a stop sign, barely pressed the gas and spun 180 degrees around and ended up perfectly in the other lane. Decided it was a sign from God that I needed to head back instead try to turn back around

The couple Integra and Prelude I had, would do fine in up to 6-8" of snow. Got tougher with hills obviously, but I only got stuck once or twice in 12 years in Richmond, and I only ever drove FWD.
Now, once I did have to go up a hill in my neighborhood, in reverse to get out,but was fine afterwards.

I feel you. Its 13 in Richmond, with 3-4" and still falling, and I am thrilled I choose this week, to not be in New Orleans.

Especially since LA already has the worst traffic in the country... it would be madness

Never been to L.A., so I don't know the traffic there, but I do know that frickers in New Orleans, can't drive in perfect weather.
Though I'm sure it would give me a hell of a laugh if I were there. Sit out on the front porch with a drink, and watch all the idiots driving.

I can't beloved how bad people in the south are at driving in the snow and ice. It's really not that difficult. We are the people that drive the most, but we have the worst drivers.
