Yeah -- he just never adjusted to the college game. He'd take plays off in practice -- and basically take practices off where he wasn't there mentally and didn't even try. Nothing our coaches would try seemed to get through to him. Doesn't matter how talented he is -- Mullen has repeatedly proven that he isn't playing anyone's arse unless they are a good practice player.

At times, he would get motivated and go total beast mode for just long enough for us to get excited. This happened a couple of different times where we thought he was on the path to living up to his potential -- only to relapse into IDGAF mode for weeks/months at a time. Seemed to be used to dominating -- and when he couldn't, he was easily mentally defeated.

Hope James can live up to his potential(again, not crossing my fingers -- but at least current reports are good). I've never seen someone his size and power move like he can.

In a way, I think this is a good thing but some players aren't good at practice. Maybe you are talking about effort in practice and not necessarily having a "good" practice though.
Bo is a shitty practice player but is good on gameday. It's not like he doesn't try in practice. He's just not good.

With Quay though, he was almost certainly not trying and just getting his arse kicked in practice.
