There's still a chance that one of those two end up on defense. Besides I see no reason to think that it would push them away. When they both commited there were already 3-4 other receievers from this class commited as well.

They'll be receivers.
Posted on 1/27/15 at 8:34 am to bulldawger
Perhaps, but that still doesn't mean that the commitment of another receiever would scare them away.

They were committed when Van Jefferson was committed to us.

I don't understand why kids don't expect to compete for a spot in college. Not saying that is what Slayton or Godwin would do but in college u are gonna be on roster with talented players. That's why I loved Chubbs attitude during his recruitment. He knew he was coming in behind Gurley and Marshall but was confident in his ability to compete for playing time. Playing with good/great players makes u better

Because, when you have been the best player on whatever team you have played on since you were 5 and have never sat on the bench, you have the inability to really perceive it will happen to you, yet at the same time a fear of lowering your worth as your whole life you have equated guys on the bench to second class citizens.... and you damn well don't want to become one.
Some of y'all analyze these decisions with the wisdom and frame of refrence of a 30 year old who never played high level sports and never was catered to due to one's athletics his entire life. The recruiting game is really tough if you have good prents and a good coach. I cant imagine how hard it would be for an elleite kid with shitty parents and a greedy coach....

I'm looking at it as a 26 year old that played college basketball. No I wasn't elite but I did want to play on the best possible team. I never rode the bench in high school but I understood once I took that step up to college it's a whole different ballgame and playing with the best players was a reason I loved playing

The key difference is you wanted to play college ball. The kids you are referring to assume they will be college stars and the recuiting process does not deflate this image...

I realize it's just high school, but if you haven't watched Madden's tape yet, take a look. He just smothers guys.

Yea I guess so Peter. Yeah Maddens tape looks good what type of competition was he playing? He threw them guys around and did he go to any camps. I love the pick up and really like what our new OL coach is doing.

True.
Just would not want to rock the boat with one week to go. There's been enough turnover as it is.

Per Trent Smallwood 2015 JUCO DE Austin Roberts(6'5" 255) will be on an Official this weekend.

UGA related nuggets from Bama sites by way of their recruiting thread:

Ryan Bartow on Okeke-Valentine

Long shot to qualify (even a year from now) given the low test score and many core classes still needed.
The transcript (from Nigeria to Champagnat Catholic in Hialeah, Fla. to the current school in metro Atlanta) has some question marks as well.
Best case scenario for the kid, from multiple contacts, is to re-classify to 2016 and then perhaps, maybe, in a year or so he could have the needed academics to qualify, maybe.
Could have to take the JUCO route.

*There was a point where Bama had a great shot to flip Terry Godwin, but their chances actually decreased the more he visited. Official gave them a boost, but likely not enough to trump UGA.
quote:
*Rico McGraw is still expected to flip to UGA. They have been hard after him, while Bama has essentially conceded him with reduced effort of contact and visits.
*Bama still wants him, but they see the writing on the wall.

FWIW...Godwin & Slayton will both be in Athens this weekend on un-official visits to help Trent recruit Rico McGraw...

Jan. 30 visitors list
Trent Thompson, Chauncey Rivers, D’Andre Walker, Rico McGraw, Kirby Choates, Terry Godwin (UV), Darius Slayton (UV)
Rumored that there could be 1 - 2 more "surprise" visitors this weekend also....

I feel with Slayton and Godwin coming home this weekend that the flip scare might finally have subsided. If we can just hold on to what we have...snag R. Smith and McGraw...it would be an amazing class

Also, the guy LedK listed above is supposed to be a take for us....

I remember that Roberts dude in HS. Was supposed to be really good but no shot a qualifying. Apparently he's closer to 6'6" 300 now
An interesting possibility

Any word on us getting Williamson to cancel that UF visit and come to Athens? I have heard absolutely nothing about his recruitment from back home to be honest. But, Gainesville is an extremely pro-UGA city.

No idea on Williamson. I don't know that I've ever seen a team with this many balls in the air for only 4-5 spots heading into the last weekend. I'm sure the staff has a much better idea, but still
