Age 6 on Oct. 25, 1969.
#7 LSU 21 #4 Auburn 20 in Death Valley.
My Dad got tickets from a La.State Trooper. We sat in the South end zone because I remember LSU painted the SEZ with the opponents' colors.
It was blue with orange 'A and U.'
Thing I remember most is the first play of the game. Jimmy Gilbert threw a halfback option pass to Andy Hamilton for a TD.
George Bevan and Bill Thomasan blocked Auburn XP to preserve the win.
#5 LSU went 9-1 (3 point loss to Archie and OM) and was offered the Cotton Bowl vs #1 Texas, but unceremoniously was dumped for 2-loss #11 Notre Dame instead.
And I remember driving up Airline Highway past Hopper's and Bluebird's and the Snake Farm that sunny autumn Saturday morning.
