I miss the interviews and quips from Spurrier, he could almost bring tears to my eye for laughing so hard. He especially held a deep sentiment for the girls school (fsu was called the Florida State College for Women til 1947). Spurrier loved zinging them with the free shoes university type stuff and then he displayed the hatred for them when Danny Wuerffel was visiously hit long after throwing passes.

Spurrier would not be shy about ripping into officiating when he saw injustice and we would get acc officials every other year when we played the girls school. Mickey Andrews was the DC back then and it was well known he wanted the opposing qb taken out of the game....he was dirty as they came. Other acc schools were complaining after a lot of teams lost their qbs to injuries when they faced Andrews's hit squad.

Spurrier exacted revenge on the girls school by beating the tar outta them for the NC in 1996. But he had a losing record to Bowden overall...a stat not held by anyone else who played his Gators more than six times.

Which brought Richt to Athens.... for those of you who are whipper snappers and ever wondered how such things come to pass....

ETA.... he exacted revenge on Tommy Bowden at Clemson.. which is why they now have Dabo...

Spurrier, no doubt, has left his mark in CFB history and he's still not done.
