If we hire Jon Fabris I'm going to kick a puppy

Fabris wouldn't be terrible. He put out some pretty good edge rushers and recruited the Carolinas very well. Home run hire? No. However, I think we could do much worse.
All in all, I'd rather have Tyson Summers but rumor has it he might be up for some DC jobs.

I just don't really think it's ever a good idea to hire a retread that you fired in the not-so-distant past

No to Fabris. There is a reason we fired him.

Fabris wouldn't make sense.
Dude is a legitimate nutcase.

Guys, I'm a wizard, trust me. It wouldn't be a bad hire. We could do better but it could also be a lot worse.
He is certifiably bat shite crazy, but he does a very good job of coaching up players and ST's under Fabris (directional kickoffs aside) were superior. He lacks the recruiting acumen of Summers or Shannon or a few other names that have been tossed out, but we have some damn good recruiters to help out with that. He was fired because we had to clean house with Willie; boosters demanded that the entire defensive staff go (sans our bagman, Garner). However, it isn't really fair to lump Fabris in with that dolt and his toady, Janecek.
I wouldn't be upset if we hired Fabris, but I wouldn't be excited, either.

Fabris - No, no, no.
Never go back. Never.
We should be able to do alot better.

Some smoke coming out of Athens that Mike Ekeler could be the coach to fill the remaining defensive assistant position. Ekeler was formerly at USC and before that he was at Indiana and LSU. While at Indiana he worked with Fabris. This could explain why Fabris was rumored to be talked to this past week.

LB is pretty important as well as ST so I hope CMR doesn't dick around and settle on this spot. We need a proven coach that puts players in the league here.

See this is how a forum works you don't have to sticke every subject cluttering up the top page and information is still spread properly.

Glad I could help...
Any chance CMR revamps the entire S&C program with a lil' prod from CJP?

I think the program is under the microscope and some people in high places are feeling pretty uncomfortable right now for pinching pennies and squandering talent.
Hopefully it will evolve or die.

I just think that S&C is a huge part in developing these young players and getting the beef on them in the right places...
That is one of the first things I see out of Bama... Those guys blow up year one. The more muscle on and around the joints the less injuries you're going to have.

Everything you said:
The 2008 blackout nightmare told me all I needed to know. Saban took a bunch of Shula scrubs and mopped up the floor with our best team ever because of superior applied metrics.
We still have people in Athens thinking the earth is flat but, not as many as was here a month ago.

is this LB's coach from USC for sure the guy?

I agree that we should go ahead and complete the trifecta. Bring in a new strength staff and at last the circle will be complete.

All these changes might fall flat, but I'm damn glad to see us trying something different. Hopefully the young aggressive guys are just what this program needs to give it a kick in the arse. I like not seeing the SOS, same old type of coaches routine...
