Jeremy Pruitt says he didn't have to think twice about leaving Florida State for Georgia after he learned coach Mark Richt was looking for a new defensive coordinator.
Pruitt said Wednesday he first met Richt 11 years ago when as a high school coach in Fort Payne, Ala., he brought recruits to Georgia. He says he decided ''right then and there'' he wanted to work on Richt's staff.
The opportunity came Sunday, when defensive coordinator Todd Grantham left Georgia for a similar position at Louisville. Only two days later, Richt on Tuesday hired Pruitt as Grantham's successor.
In Pruitt's only season as Florida State's defensive coordinator, the Seminoles led the nation in scoring defense and won the 2013 national championship. Pruitt takes over a Georgia defense that struggled last season.

Says a lot about the impact Richt's integrity can have. I mean, who would have ever thought that the reason we get the most popular and up and coming DC would be because of his respect for Richt? Not money or any other reason....but the mans character.

He said really positive things about how much he liked working at fsu 2 weeks before bolting for the uga job. It is just politics.. take it as a grain of salt.

I was in meetings all morning so I'm just now watching teh PC on georgiadogs.
My insides are melting with how happy I am with this dude. I know all of us were gung ho on Kirby, and with good reason, but I would imagine it's because we weren't familiar enough with JP. After hearing this guy talk for 10 minutes, about UGA and coaching in general, I don't see how anyone would be the slightest bit disappointed by this hire.

He could have killed puppies 3 days ago but I would still be buying what he's saying.

That "struggled" is one hell of a euphemism.
