I don't know why O would accept a DL position here when he was a good HC at USC. Unless Smart is gone too and Ed will be the DC?

Because he's a good DL coach and no one has offered him a head coaching or coordinator job.

I'm only half serious, but what Bryant posted is the only thing that would make sense.
