Big loss for us no matter how you spell it. He's the best fit at rb in Malzahn's offense & I think he would be awesome in spead offense such as NE Patriots.

Actually, I feel like roc is the prototypical Malzahn running back. I feel like he is perfect for this system.

No doubt losing mason sucks though

I would be surprised if Gus went forward with as run-heavy of an attack regardless.

Yeah, no way the offense will be skewed so far towards the run. I say that, but it will still be very run heavy compared to most, 70/30 or so. He'll definitely adapt the offense to the skill sets, he always does.

Weren't you telling us like 2 days ago that he had maybe the best season EVER in SEC history for a RB? Yet him leaving is no big loss?
It's a loss (no doubt), but Gus Malzahn always has good running backs at Auburn, and it's at a position that Auburn always reloads on... Ben Tate, Mike Dyer, and now Tre Mason. Next up, Cam Artis-Payne, Peyton Barber, and Racean "Roc" Thomas.

Every few years Auburn has a player I really like. Mason is that guy currently. Seems like a great kid and teammate, and damn good RB.

Cameron Artis-Payne and Tre both called Peyton Barber the most talented back on the team. Corey Grant is coming back as the speed guy, and 5* RB Roc Thomas is coming in.

Carry totals rank will probably look something like:
Barber/Artis-Payne
Grant
Thomas

Cameron Artis Payne was the #1 JUCO back. He'll probably get the bulk of the carries. There is high praise of Peyton Barber, but he's an unknown at this point. Then Roc Thomas will be coming in as a 5*, plus Corey Grant for the edge plays.

Jeremy Johnson and Peyton Barber.

Does anyone remember when I said I like Peyton Barber better than Mike Dyer coming out of high school? I was heckled by quite a few Auburn fans, and Tre Mason and Cam Artis-Payne seem to agree with me.

Didn't dislike Cam, but didn't really like him either. I did like that Lutzekirken guy, or however you spell it.

Good on him.

Auburn is now also declining.

How crazy is it that we might actually have to, or choose to, redshirt Racean Thomas?

I find it doubtful anyone could dislike that guy. He's definitely the type of guy you want representing your school.

I know you're joking, but I will say all of these losses were expected. Luckily, Reese Dismukes C stayed. He would have been by far the biggest loss. LT has great depth. RB will lose some talent and tenacity, but it isn't a position any AU fan is really ever worried with.
