Bama's defense is predicated on the perfect play call. It works well with a slower tempo. But once teams are able to ramp up the tempo, Bama's defense is effectively neutralized.

Well, this is the thing. It appears Les is cleaning house to better the team. If Nuss was forced out, I'm not sure how this helps them. It seems a change on the defensive side is what would be needed.

Stopping the speed ball stuff has a lot to do with push up front. Alabama needs a NT to make an impact. Timmy Jernigan type

Not true. Ramping up the tempo doesn't work so well when you lose 3 yards on first down, and that's what happened most of the time in '11. Bama's D this year wasn't dominant, but it isn't a philosophical problem.
