First, I'm sure he was given/told options. Secondly, he got an open layup. Do you really see an option for a more high percentage shot in the picture?

An off balance layup that he missed vs a wide open jump shot seems plausible to me. Lets not act like he just missed a standard lay in here

He thinks a 3 is a higher percentage shot, apparently.

Madden got an open layup, Portis had position for the rebound on the other side, Mizzou defended the shot well enough to cause a miss then slapped the ball away allowing time to run out, but don't give Mizzou credit for great play at the end of the game, it was all Arkansas' player's and coach's failures to cause the loss.
