in 2007, OSU was the clear #1 at the time, the question was who was #2. It came down to us and LSU, they won the SEC we didn't, pretty simple

I agree, on paper we had no real right to go. However, my question is this; how did LSU jump 5 spots? OSU was 3rd and we were 4th and LSU was 7th going into that weekend. 1 and 2 lost obviously. I know why we didn't go, but why didn't the other teams ranked ahead of LSU go? They jumped over 2 other conference champs with equal records. I just don't see how you could justify them jumping that far after losing to UK and Arky.

It was hard to take for sure but considering LSU owned Ohio St. in the championship game you could argue that LSU was underrated/under-ranked in the first place.

One of the teams they jumped that year was Virginia Tech, who LSU beat 48-7 and the other was Kansas, who lost to Missouri on the final weekend of the season and didn't play for the Big 12 title. Kansas had a great team that year, but they weren't a big enough name to justify playing for the title over the SEC champion.
