At this point, no one can say the SEC is "down" until a year goes by and we don't put a team in the Championship game. With the new playoff system, it will be years before that happens.

2011 was two powerhouses and then paper tiger Arkansas.

ahahahaha...There may have been 2 teams outside Bama and LSU that could have beaten Arkansas that year.

Sad.
Hmm. I wonder what this could be in reference too? Are you really that fixated on me/USC that you're bringing stuff in from another thread that has absolutely nothing to do with this particular thread? SAD I tell ya.

What bowl was Arky in?
They didn't earn enough wins during the regular season to garner a bowl berth, thus they did not go to one. But I'm sure you knew that. Still doesn't change the fact that Arky should be considered down in the same way that Florida and Tenn are.

Again, like I said before, lucky for tSEC that USC has stepped up and is helping tSEC remain the top conference. Just because some of the 'Big 6' schools aren't up to snuff doesn't mean the conference is down. Other schools have stepped up to the plate and are playing well.

Because USCe is on the same level as Tennessee and Florida. That's rich.

We ended the year ranked #5, and that can't have been more than one spot off. Oklahoma State and Stanford probably could have given us more than we could handle. MAYBE one other team. We went 11-2 and lost to the two teams that played each other in the NC. Year before, we go 10-3 and lose to the NC winner, and two other teams that were ranked #1 at some point.

'10 and '11 Arkansas were the real deal. I hope 'ol dude ain't expecting South Carolina to go 11-2 a fourth year in a row without Connor Shaw.

UT, UF and Arky being down at the same time would be my guess. East down.

Oh hell ... you're right - that's it! Especially since the East's bowl record sucks so bad. What is it again .... 3-1? That sucks royally ... oh, err, wait. What is the West's record again?

ETA: BTW, SCAR is the only team in the entire country to have beaten two (2) BCS bowl winners this season, plus a quasi wannabe bowl winner in the Cotton Bowl winner ... two of them in their own homes, in their own places.

SCAR beat seven of eight bowl participants on their schedule this year, and seven of those eight won their bowls with UGA being the only one to lose their bowl and the only one we lost too at the same time. ... and SCAR did this with the youngest team in the country.

UNC won their bowl ... SCAR beat UNC.
UGA lost their bowl ... SCAR lost to them in Athens.
Vandy won their bowl ... SCAR beat Vandy.
UCF won their BCS bowl (Baylor) ... SCAR beat UCF in Orlando. (and dropped two spots in the polls after doing so)
Mizzou won their Cotton Bowl (Okie St) ... SCAR beat Mizzou in CoMo.
Miss St won their bowl ... SCAR beat Miss State.
Clemson won their BCS bowl (OSU) ... SCAR beat Clemson for the 5th yr in row.
SCAR beat Wisconsin in the Cap One Bowl.

What team beat more bowl teams, beat more BCS bowl winners, than SCAR?

Don't pay any attention to what idiots on ESPN say. 7-2 in Bowls with the BCS CG to go. 9 BCS titles - more than all other conferences combined. Until someone kills the king, the king is not dead.
