What constitutes the SEC being 'down?'

I assume Auburn doing well based on '13, '10, and '04?
Bowl record doesn't seem to support the idea.

Auburn winning the conference.

2010 SEC West was the best ever.

Alabama = THE SEC
Alabama bowl loss = SEC is down

UT, UF and Arky being down at the same time would be my guess. East down.

it was a pretty solid year.
2011 had the top 3 teams going into the last week.

Any team but LSU and Bama winning the SEC...

But no worries, USC has replaced Tenn and Mizzou is repping well and Vandy is better than ever.

Auburn probably going to get beat in the championship
Bama getting wacked vs a top end big 12 school
The sec east being soft as frick
Vandy beating Florida, Georgia, and Tennessee in the same season.
Sec is down but no other conference has a legitimate claim to being better.

Does it really matter? Do you need more validation than being SEC champion?

UGA was snakebitten by injuries this year, Bama was at its worst since '07, Florida was awful, Tennessee was still awful, Arkansas was a dumpster fire, Texas A&M had somewhat of a drop-off, South Carolina dropped some games they shouldn't have, LSU was mediocre by their standards, so yeah, the SEC had a down year. I don't think anyone knowledgeable said the SEC was down in 2010. 2010 and 2011 the SEC was at its zenith.

If Auburn loses Monday night - the SEC Era of Dominance will be over...whether or not that is true. That will be the national perception.

2010 was the peak in the west. 2011 was two powerhouses and then paper tiger Arkansas. It's all cyclical except for OM not winning the west. As long as the SEC continues recruiting as well as it does across the board the competitiveness will remain.

Basically its all about the BIG 6 and the Strongest team in the SEC according to the media. Mizzou and USCe doing good = SEC East down. Its kinda stupid to be honest.

Winning less than 75 percent of bowl games = down.
We suck.
We suck.

Well the SEC East has been down for a few years now. The question then becomes is the West down or not.
