So what is the deal?

No dominant lineman to rush the passer. The pass rush was beyond pathetic this year.

ETA: A 6'0", 220 lb. linebacker abused our line last night. I don't know if we need to move toward speed on the ends instead of size, but the game seems to be changing and Saban is getting left behind.

:kige:

Maybe our big uglies need to be a little smaller and more mobile? And our defensive scheme is a dinosaur. It doesn't work against HUNH. You will never hear that from Saban. It's all about execution to him when maybe we need to adjust to the times. We aren't playing pro style offenses very often anymore.

IMO I think they make they make the defensive calls pre snap more complicated than it should be. Especially with these uptempo spread/read option type teams. Each time they change the D call, assignments change. That leads to a lot of busted coverages and missed assignments. Keep it simple., especially for younger, inexperienced guys. These are 18-21 year old kids who probably think about chasing tail 80% of the time.

LSU's defensive line wasn't that great either.
Florida suffered a rash of attrition but remained somewhat respectable at the end of the season.
