Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin not only walked away from a chance to be the next USC coach, but he is also declining all requests to interview for NFL head coaching jobs as he'll honor a unique six-year, $30 million contract signed with the Aggies on Nov. 30, according to several sources.

He knows he's not deserving of those interviews.

He seems to do a great job developing QB's but other than that I'm not sure why he is such a hot name.

He got paid for accomplishing nothing with a heisman trophy winner on his team.

Why would they want to interview him?

Don't they know he went 8-4 with A&M's best player ever?

Why would he go to the NFL? The salary cap wouldn't allow him the extreme talent advantage he is assembling.

Just wanting to interview him to meet their quota. He knows it that's why he refuses the interviews to give another black coach a shot. It's a dumb rule IMO.

NFL, Hell he has done nothing in College football yet.

Lots of teams have guady stats.

He is not a leader of men.

quote:

He's likely declining because he knows those interviews are being offered because of the Rooney Rule. None of these teams are seriously after him.

Rooney Rule bustin………

He should be refusing. He knows he aint done a damn thing at A&M yet. Hell the NFL should be going after Kliff Kingsbury. At least, Gary Pinkel, he's taken his team to the SEC championship already.

Lot of coaches aren't going to talk to the NFL until bowl season is over. That's pretty standard. But the large number of openings means we're going to hear of a lot of targets.

With TAMU in the SEC now, Sumlin would need a coach in waiting to make a transition or at least have given the AD some notice to find someone so that he wouldn't burn at least some bridges. A&M isn't stacked and it's losing JFF and his leaving with them would sting pretty badly. He'd have to have a lot of confidence in any future job's success to leave, imo.

Why would he even have an interview? Hes the worst coach in the history of football who is way over his head. Hell I bet he steps down after tonight because he knows his gig is up
