With the way the game played out, I doubt LSU would have won, but you can't help but wonder what might have happened if Lee was given the start during that game.

I understand that the coaching staff believed Jefferson's mobility might give Alabama's defense a little trouble like it did in the first game, but it was pretty clear that wasn't the case early on.

Even a few points in that game might have mentally gotten LSU into it. The team just never, at any point, looked remotely interested in the game. The defense played well for a while, but they all just seemed flat.

I don't know what happened, so I won't post any theories regarding their attitude that night. On another note, I am one that believes Jarrett Lee wouldn't have made a difference. I'll quote Wikipedia.
quote:

Many fans believe that Lee would not have made a difference in the outcome of the game because Lee had a poor history against Alabama. In his four games against Alabama, Lee had completed less than 42% of his passes with 7 interceptions, only 1 TD, and a passer rating of 68.7.

Just look at Lee's performance on 11/5/11. Sure he lead LSU to an 8-0 start, but the only defense remotely close to being as good as Alabama's was LSU's. He hadn't seen anything like the 2011 Alabama defense when he lead his team into the Alabama game.
