What's wrong with conservative positions? They are generally good for the economy/jobs. Mississippi is actually doing much better economically and we have for the first time in history both Republican majorities in the state houses, and a R governor.
It wasn't but a few years ago the state legislatures were democrat and have been for decades.
And a vast majority of the young populace in MS is just as conservative as the older generations.
ETA I'm just talking about conservative economic stances. As far as social issues such as pot legalization, the south is definitely far behind. I wish we could take conservative fiscal policies and combine that with more liberal social policies and you'd have real freedom and a booming economic engine.
