Our state politicians are just as stupid as our populace. One state senator tried to force Ole Miss to change back to col reb as a mascot. He was a state fan. I'm not making that up that's seriously what they debated in the Mississippi senate.

That's an incredibly bold claim given the populace.

I remember when one OM grad State legislator tried to make the MSU mascot a cow.
Then when Rep. Steve Holland tried to change the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America
Course this is the guy who is famous for his comment on his opponents poor performance in the election..Holland was quoted "I could go to the steps of the Lee County courthouse and screw a bull moose and still get more than 5% of the vote" Then of course we finally amended our state constitution a couple years ago to ban slavery.
