I don't think the Big 12 will disappear, unless OU and Texas go to the Pac 12 which would be ridiculous.
I think you're going to see more ex Big East, AAC, and even some ACC teams join the Big 12 in the next few years, maybe even some MAC or MWC teams. Texas and OU don't want to go to the big conferences and compete every year with other NC contenders, they rather sit at home and beat up on TCU, Kansas, and other mid major programs.
