Statistically, at this point in his career, Malzahn is nowhere as good as Terry Bowden. You can't base Malzahn's effectiveness on record alone.

If you base it on game action, he's had a superb year. Magical season. But Auburn has also won several games in the last few seconds. These things generally have a way of evening out over time.

Personally, I think he brings a lot to the table. I respect his ability and frankly hate that Auburn has him. But I think it is quite a fair point to believe that Malzahn needs to have a little deeper resume before anointing him as a great head coach.
