No, LSU had major problems on offense in that one. LSU had five yards on five carries in their first two series. One of those carries was a hand-off to Spencer Ware on 3rd and 10 on the second drive.

It's not about the half back in the first quarter, it's about offensive linemen crushing LBs, and receivers putting the DBs on their arse.

RUN BLOCKING. It hurts.

On the first drive of the 4th quarter on 3rd and 4, we ran our fullback (Copeland) who had 1 carry for 0 yards the whole season. He had zero after the second carry too.

That's because we hadn't worn down the denfense in the first half.

LSU had three offensive drives in the first quarter with 3 three-and-outs.

That doesn't matter if the defense had held Alabama to 3 3 and out drives.

Of course you can if your defense holds them to three and outs. That was the problem, our defense didn't do what their defense was doing - holding the opponent's offense to three and outs.

That was kind of my whole point, their offense was moving the ball in the first half just enough to keep their defense from having their asses pounded by our offense.

What? A 3rd and 10 run to your RB after you've just gone three-and-out is idiotic. I like running a lot, but you can't get stupid with your play calls. Talk about wear down your own D by having them come right back on the field...

So we agree that it was a stupid call that had little chance to succeed.

Again...what? It matters because the object is to score more points than the other team and not just depend on your defense to hold a great team down while your offense waits until the 4th quarter to hopefully wear the other team down. Hard to do that when a team is about equal in talent and has revenge on their mind...

That doesn't make any sense. Our offense blew and the calls blew. It's much easier to stop a team that's running on 3rd and 10 or 3rd and 4 with a fullback that has had 1 carry the whole year.
